Changing Exam Boards

Where students have studied a syllabus on a different examining board, it is now possible to change to another board for A2. The flexibility of the new system makes it much easier for students who are wishing to move schools midway through the Sixth Form. However, the feasibility of choosing this option would first have to be discussed, as not all subjects are portable.

Retake Courses

The college has been traditionally associated with success in helping students to retake their A-levels and improving their grades.

Short Retake Courses
Short retake courses run from September to January, or from January to June. Resit courses are intensive and require a high level of commitment. As well as covering key areas of the syllabus, emphasis is placed on the development of specific exam skills and technique.

The caring and positive approach of our tutors helps students to regain confidence quickly and to overcome the disappointment of previous exam results.

One Year Retake Courses
One year courses are suitable for students who need to retake all or most of their AS and A2 units. While the whole syllabus will be taught in one year, topics which are particularly demanding will be covered in more depth to help address possible areas of weakness.

Students are encouraged to sit some of their modules in January thereby reducing the workload for June.

Examination practice forms an integral part of these courses.

GCSEs in Lower Sixth
Those students who meet the entrance requirements to join the Sixth Form but have not passed English Language or Mathematics GCSE will be advised to retake. Depending on the grade and the quality of coursework, most students will retake either their exams in November or at the end of the academic year.
