Wentworth Tutorial College, founded in 1989 by Alan Davies, is a small co-educational independent sixth form college and school situated in Hendon, North West London.
In the early years, it primarily catered for the needs of those retaking A Level examinations but has expanded into a thriving educational establishment with 170 students. The college now specialises in teaching a wide range of A-Level and GCSE courses to help prepare students most of whom
are intending to go onto higher education. Students attending the college come from different backgrounds and across the ability range.
The college offers an environment which is quite different from the traditional school. Each student is able to benefit from an interactive and informal teaching style. Considered and constructive support is offered to help create an atmosphere conducive to learning.
Although, like all educational institutions our examination results are of the utmost importance, we pride ourselves on giving students opportunities to learn, free from strict rules and regulations, and tailor programmes to meet their individual needs. We are more concerned with an individual's educational achievement than general league tables and other statistical measurements which mask the overall picture.
Our Approach
At Wentworth students are encouraged to develop their potential, supported by able and approachable teachers, in a friendly and positive atmosphere.
Our teachers are able to communicate their enthusiasm for their subjects through careful
pacing of courses, understanding what elements of the syllabus to emphasise and
the use of a diverse range of teaching materials.
Small groups allow students to develop the confidence to seek guidance and for teachers
to identify and respond to problems quickly and effectively.
We are fully committed to helping students build their self-confidence and believe that the
best way of doing this is through careful monitoring of progress in a supportive
environment.
All staff and students are on first name terms emphasising the importance of the impact of relationships within the culture of
Wentworth. We conduct ourselves and deal with all individuals in a way that encourages mutual respect. This enables us to achieve the college's objectives, maintain our ideals and
provide a modern, caring and valuable education.
