Mathematics & ICT
Our A-level mathematics students are able to follow a modular scheme which combines pure mathematics with either statistics or mechanics. Each course tries to emphasis a clear and thorough understanding of concepts and techniques, backed up by regular exam practice and past paper analysis

Information and Communication Technology is a popular subject at the college. At Wentworth students can expect to equip themselves with a genuine appreciation of the subject as well as developing the necessary practical skills.

There is a strong emphasis on coursework where students are required to develop a fully functioning information system, based on database, web design and spreadsheet packages.

Science
At Wentworth we aim to develop in students the scientific disciplines of research, analysis and logical thought and to develop their ability to think individually and creatively.

Students are able to benefit from two fully-equipped laboratories as well as having access to a networked computer system, where they are increasingly encouraged to research topics using internet based resources.

Business Studies & Economics
Business Studies and Economics courses are popular subjects at the college. Both disciplines provide an ideal foundation for future study as well as an important stepping stone towards a future career.

The flexibility of course programmes allows students to study each subject over one or two years. Students are also given the opportunity to choose a coursework option, whereby they can explore and research an issue or topic area of their choosing in much greater depth.

Politics & Sociology
Our Politics and Sociology department is the largest in the college and offers students a wide range of course options.

Politics allows students to acquire knowledge and understanding of the political dimension within their own and other societies. This includes knowledge and understanding of patterns of authority and power and the representation of different interests. Students will be required to study different levels of government and to compare the practices of systems of government.

Sociology A-level offers a highly illuminating perspective on human behaviour. The course is not only excellent preparation for degrees in the Arts and Social Sciences but also for careers after university in many areas including public services, the media, business and finance

Both subjects are well established at the college. Students will find them enjoyable and challenging. Each subject provides the opportunity to explore issues and to discuss what impact political and social changes have had on our lives.
